In film and TV we use characters to represent the story, show what the film is about and who we are focusing on and following. I will be creating a character to begin script writing. When creating characters we look at name, age, interest, likes/dislikes, hobbies and character traits.
Character introduction
My characters name will be Diane Taylor. She is from Cambridge and is from a working class background and lives with her husband Danny. Diane is 22 and her birthday is August 13th. Diane is interested in music and celebrity gossip. She has a job at the local butchers which is her family's brand. Diane likes TV talk shows and baking for her village, she does charity bake sales and fund raisers and is a overall kind hearted woman. She does not like rude, ignorant and argent people, this links to her husband who is all of these things. Her hobbies include reading, cooking and baking, watching television and listening to music. Diane is a kind, caring, compassionate, helpful person. However she has a temper and when in arguments with her husband gets angry very quickly. Diane and Danny were high school sweethearts, marrying at age 18, whilst their relationship is happy, when they argue they get extremely mad.
3 Scenarios
1) Christmas Diane's is extremely organized when it comes to party's and holidays. Christmas is the 1 holiday where she goes all out for, putting up box loads of decorations, Christmas lights all over the house, presents under the tree from December 1st, a Christmas party for the whole of town, a organized schedule for Christmas day, has cooked and prepared all the food for dinner the day before. This is Diane's favourite holiday so goes all out, she is happy and excitable. She donates to charities for children in poverty so that they get toys and what not - this shows her character is kind, caring and compassionate.
2) Going on Holiday Diane looks forward to going on holiday and try's to be prepared in advance. She has packed her and Danny's bags to go as soon as he comes home from work. She is extremely prepared. When they are on holiday she figures out what is in the area to do to make the most of her holiday. She is excitable and happy to go away but worries she forgets stuff - this links to her being organised.
3) Their birthday Diane does not make lots of plans for her own birthday as she prefers to organize for others rather than herself. As she is so selfless she would much rather not celebrate her own birthday and would rather others just carry on as usual. She is happy to celebrate her birthday but feels upset if people go all out at she does not like the attention on her.
Stereotypical
I would say Diane is quite stereotypical as she likes to have control over different aspects in life. I want her traits to be very similar to a typical housewife where she cooks and cleans the house awaiting for her husband. Diane does a 5 hour shift at the family butchers (9-2), specializing in sales with customers and the comes home and cleans the house. I want her to wear dresses at home, pearls and heels.
A normal situation
In a normal situation, such as driving a car, Diane remains calm and keeps focused on all of her surroundings. She makes sure to focus all her attention on the road.
