For this task we were put into groups and chose a scenario to create a scene. The scenarios were: a bank robber being interveiwed by detective, a locked door that wont open and a student trying to cheat in an exam. We started off by brainstorming in the group with what would work to fit the breifs and what would be the most exciting. We decided to do the bank robber story line as this had the best ideas.

We started off pre production by creating a script. We went over ideas of who the characters are, what they are like and what role they play in the scenario. We carried out the script format by using studio binder.

When creating our script, we decided we wanted to use similar language that is commonly used in police interviews and discussion. We also wanted to have the two characters be two quite different characters. For example, we had the detective who was very proud of his job. Next we had the character of Javi who critised the detective and how he is apart of how the country is ran poorley. After completeing this we created a shot list and storyboard.

The storyboard was the reference to the shot list. The storyboard was created to reference what we visioned the scene as looking. Creating a shotlist means that we can check the shots are all there and that they are exactly what we wanted.

Once we created the shot list we began to work on other pre production documents. For instance, we created a location recce. This makes us think about how we may want the scene to look and what factors may be included. In our interegation scene we only filmed in one place, we used a free classroom for our scene. By completing a location recce we can also think about what issues we may find and how to resolve them.

Once we had figured out where we wanted to film we created a risk assessment to talk about if there are any potential risks with where we are filming, what they are and what to do to stop them occurring. This ranges from trip hazards to potential electrical issues.

Then we created a call sheet to make sure all members of production knew what was going on and when it was happening.

After completing pre production we began filming our scenario.

Evaluation

We were asked to create a 5 minute scene based on a scenario proposal. We chose interview between a detective and a bank robber. This was easy to choose from as a group as we all voted on that scenario as the one we wanted to take forward. We began doing the pre production for this scene as a group. We each asigned eachother a task. Illhan said he would write a script and we worked together to create a storyboard and a shot list. Theo completed a call list showing when we were filming and who was doing what. I completed a location recce to show where we were going to be filming. Aylla and Charlie created a risk assessment to plan out any risks befre filming.

I think our scenario went well as we had used alot of team work to pre plan how we wanted it to look. We found a empty classroom and filmed the scene underneath a bright light. We thought this was a good decision as it really channeled what interegations would be like. We also filmed using two camera and two tripods. This meant that we did not need to constantly cut between shots and dialogue and the scene continuously moved. We did are two or three takes overall as some dialogue worked better in once take than another. This was then all added together in edditing. Whilst editting I used a range of J cuts and L cuts to keep it continuous as a conversation.

If I was to change the finished scenario project I would make it longer. We were asked to create a 5 minute sequence and ours was only a 1:41 long. I think when we wrote the script we had anticipated it to be longer when we filmed it. Looking back to when we were establishing the script we could have added more in to the stroy maybe discussing alabis, when Javy was when the bank got robbed and maybe if someone saw a person with his discription.
